In April 1995 I performed John Cage's lecture/performance 45' for a Speaker at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. Months later António Pinho Vargas, with whom I was studying composition asked me to perform it again at Centro Cultural de Belém, part of a festival of American Art and Music.

I liked the idea but decided to do something more elaborate and chose to work on Where Are We Going? And What Are We Doing? The possibility of delivering all 4 texts mechanically would release me to perform other actions.
